The 800W limit explained
You'll see 800W everywhere in plug-in solar. The number comes from Europe — Germany raised its balcony-solar cap to 800W of inverter output, and manufacturers built kits to match.
The cap is about safety on a standard circuit: feeding too much power back through a normal outlet could overload household wiring not designed for it. Limiting inverter output keeps things safe.
U.S. rules are still forming, and the new UL 3700 standard plus state laws will define the real limits here. Some kits pair more panel wattage with an 800W inverter to capture more on cloudy days while staying within the output cap.
Practical takeaway: 800W is a sensible, safe target for a single circuit. If you want more, you generally need a dedicated circuit and likely a different (regulated) install — check with your utility.
